One Spirit's Interspiritual Spiritual Counseling
One Spirit’s Interspiritual Spiritual Counseling Program (ISC) offers a complete and broad professional training in the field that is also referred to as Spiritual Direction, Spiritual Friendship, and Spiritual Counseling. One Spirit’s Interspiritual Spiritual Counseling Program offers an approach that is unique and transformative for the counselor and each client they serve.
ISC is open to all ordained clergy, healthcare professionals, life coaches, career counselors, social workers, and psychologists. Each semester covers substantive psychological and spiritual knowledge necessary for spiritual counseling, skill building information, experiential exercises, exposure to counseling resources,
and tools for starting your Spiritual Counseling practice.
ISC offers an opportunity to both deepen your own spiritual life and connection with the Divine while gaining capacity and competence in the art of offering Interspiritual Spiritual Counseling.
The underpinnings of One Spirit’s Interspiritual Spiritual Counseling curriculum center on integral theory, the importance of presence in the counselor/client relationship, ethical counselor practice and One Spirit’s Interspiritual premises. (See the premises below)
Participants are exposed to a broad range of spiritual counseling approaches, assessment and intervention tools, and exposure to the wealth of the world’s many spiritual and wisdom traditions.
Each semester includes:
- Substantive psychological and spiritual knowledge necessary for spiritual
counseling
- Skill building information and practice through experiential exercises
- Exposure to counseling resources
- Dialogue sessions
- Self-care skill building, and tools for starting your Spiritual Counseling practice.
This program is designed to reinforce the interspiritual spiritual counselor’s skill development through integration of mind, body, emotion, spirit, interaction, and action/service/practice in the learning process.
Program Structure
The One Spirit professional training in Interspiritual Spiritual Counseling Program is a four semester program taken over a two year period that can be started in any one of the semesters. Course study is part-time, designed for working adults with courses meeting one weekend a month from September to June.
In addition to regular course work, those seeking a certificate in Interspiritual Spiritual Counseling are required to: be in spiritual counseling themselves, begin seeing clients during their course of study, receive supervision, and take two elective credit classes.
